SILVIA DANESI
Born: Turin, May 1, 1975 • Background: B.A. in Art History; specialization in accessories production & multimedia publishing
Silvia Danesi is an Italian designer and art educator whose work spans art jewelry, multi‑material art design. Trained in art history with a specialization in accessories and multimedia publishing, she has developed a career at the intersection of tradition, experimentation, and social inclusion.
International Practice
Danesi collaborates with artistic and cultural organizations active at national and international levels, including the Asia Design Milan platform, which showcases Asian creative scenes in Milan. Since 2018, she has served on the board of Sarpi Bridge Oriental Design Week, a hub for East–West dialogue.
She has co‑curated events with Annimaria Salinari, including Homi Asia Design 2017 and Fia Lisboa 2016, and has presented her own projects—art jewelry and multi‑material works—at the Asia Design Pavilions, Homi Asia Design, and the Macao International Design Show.
Design Approach
Her practice embraces reflective design—objects as carriers of meaning and memory rather than mere function or ornament. Her jewelry uses unconventional materials such as recycled bioplastics, wood, ceramics, aluminum, and sea‑recovered fragments to challenge conventions and foreground sustainability.
“Design is a reflective act that carries memory, culture, and emotion.”
Visual & Graphic Design
Danesi also works in graphic design. Notably, she created the visual design for the CDs Regards and Calendar II, included in the historic Bussotti Opera Ballet collection by Sylvano Bussotti and Johnny Lapio, bridging visual art and music.
Education & Inclusion
Since 2010, she has taught plastic arts, painting, and art history within the 1st‑level Master’s in Art Therapy under the convention of the Laba University of Brescia (Turin, Brescia), coordinated by the cooperative Arcote Atelier, with which she also develops educational and artistic projects for children and young people.
